About the Southeast Alabama Highland Games 2023
The Southeast Alabama Highland Games is the area’s best Scottish and Celtic festival!
Originally thought to be a showcase for the bravest and strongest soldiers in Scotland, the Highland Games were actually more than that. The games also became a place for the family clan’s more creative members to shine through music and dance.
From whimsical stage acts to precise marching pipe and drum bands, a plethora of entertainment will make your visit worth it. The kids will stay busy and entertained in a “robust” kid’s area as well, which will include bounce castles.
Watch more than 35 athletes compete in a wide range of strength tests, including the main event—the caber toss. The caber toss is a traditional Scottish athletic event that requires competitors to throw a large, tapered pole called a caber. Cabers are usually about 16 to 20 feet tall and weigh between 90 and 150 pounds.

Not only will there be lively competitions and entertainment, but there will also be around 16 family clan tents. Learn about the various family clans’ histories and find out if you have any Scottish ancestors. There will also be blacksmith demonstrations, falconry, birds of prey and more.
If just the thought of all the fun and activity makes you hungry, you’re in luck! There will also be plenty of food vendors at the Scottish festival.
Location
The Southeast Alabama Highland Games 2023 will be held at Culpepper Park, located at 290 Daleville Ave. in Daleville. Did you know Daleville is about 22 miles from Summer Wood Apartment Homes? That means you’ll be ready to do a little jig after about a 30-minute drive!
