Do you love being inspired, getting creative and letting your imagination run free? Get ready to love the upcoming interactive gallery space at Dothan’s Main Library if you said yes!

What we know

According to a recent report, the interactive gallery space at Dothan’s Main Library is happening thanks to the generosity of a grant. In fact, the Daniel Foundation of Alabama awarded the Dothan Houston County Library System (DHCLS) the grant. More specifically, it’s a $25,000 Arts, Culture & Assets Grant.

Funds from the grant will be used for an interactive gallery space at Dothan’s Main Library. The interactive gallery hopes to encourage curiosity and creativity, for starters.

Plans for the interactive gallery space include rotating exhibits. Many of the exhibits will foster patron participation among other things.

The new interactive gallery, known as the INDEX, will convert what is now a 250-sqaure-foot alcove into a dynamic, well-used space at the Main Library. The project is expected to be completed by November 2022.

More about DHCLS

The DHCLS is on a mission. That mission is simple. It centers on providing all Wiregrass residents access to a broad range of materials and information.

Dothan residents are eligible for library cards. With a library card, guests can borrow books, CDs, DVDs, audiobooks, or e-books. They can also use the library’s computers, Internet and database.

There are three library branches in town. They include the Main Library, the Westgate Branch and the Ashford Branch. Plus, there is the Bookmobile too.

Location

The Main Library is located in Downtown Dothan at 445 North Oates St. The main branch is open Monday through Saturday at10 a.m. Closing times vary.
