According to reports, The Toasted Yolk Café in Dothan hopes to have a grand opening November 15th. The opening will provide about 60 new jobs for the area. A good way to keep up with when they will begin hiring is to “like” the Dothan location’s Facebook page.
The Texas-based restaurant currently has about 15 locations. The Dothan location will be the first to be out-of-state!
The Toasted Yolk Café specializes in breakfast, brunch and lunch with all the refreshing boozy brunch cocktails too. Open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., guests are treated to tasty options ranging from poached eggs to pancakes and salads to sandwiches.
We could go on and on about the large menu with a mouthwatering variety, but it’s too hard to narrow it down! For example, do we talk about the signature dish—The Toasted Yolk—or “sweet bookends” like the churro-style donuts?
Of course, we’ll go with the namesake! The Toasted Yolk is two slices of sourdough bread grilled with an egg in the middle of each. Cooked to order, served with your choice of a breakfast meat and either the hashbrown casserole or grits.

It all started with a question. What is so great about dinner? For founders of The Toasted Yolk Café, they craved omelettes, crisp bacon, hashbrowns, cheese grits, pancakes, thinly-sliced deli meats, fresh salads and good soup—all things typically served earlier in the day.
When they could not find a place that consistently offered such fine fare in a fun environment, they opened a restaurant themselves. Now, the Circle City can toast to being the first Alabama location!
